RasMol

General Information

RasMol is a utility for creating and viewing graphical images of molecules. Rasmol can create several types of images including ball-and-stick and space-filling renderings. RasMol produces high quality graphics but has few capabilities.

Running RasMol

To run RasMol, follow the instructions in the getting started section. Then execute RasMol with the command "rasmol". The text document ~chem/rasmol/rasmol.txt contains complete information on the use of RasMol. In general, the user must use a text editor to convert output from a program such as GAMESS to a format RasMol can read such as XYZ format.

Sample input file for RasMol

Documentation

The RasMol documentation is available in text and html format at ~chem/rasmol/manuals.

Sample input files can be found at ~chem/rasmol/examples.
