1. How to use screen

The screen utility allows you to make terminal sessions persistent. You can detach from the terminal session and log off the machine, then come back the next day to reconnect to the terminal session as if you had never disconnected. To start the screen utility, just type screen.  To disconnect from a terminal session running under screen, type CTRL-a followed by CTRL-d. After disconnecting, you should be able to log off without problems. To reconnect, login to the machine and type screen -d -r. The screen utility can also be used with interactive PBS jobs.
