Every supercomputer and cluster at CARC has MATLAB R2012b installed on all compute nodes, supported by the campus-wide IT license. Use of MATLAB is not permitted on machine head nodes: the application should be invoked through PBS or on a compute node obtained through an interactive PBS session. UNM's MATLAB license includes all of the standard toolkits. Although the parallel toolkit is not yet available at CARC, users can use PBS to launch multiple instances with distinct input files using a "master/slave" or "embarassingly parallel" strategy in order to perform high-throughput MATLAB calculations. For assistance in implementing this approach, or in using MATLAB in a batch submission environment via PBS, please contact email@example.com to arrange a consultation, or see Quick Byte #2: Running Parallel MATLAB Jobs.
